Quantification of Porphyromonas gingivalis Bacteria in Final Trimester of Pregnant Women According to Their Oral Health Status

Abstract Objective Pregnant women are more at risk to suffer dental infection. Untreated infection during pregnancy can lead serious problems mothers and their children, such as premature birth low weight. This study aims analyzed the relationship between oral hygiene status (OHI-S) expression of Porphyromonas gingivalis in third trimester pregnant women. Materials Methods was an observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. Patients consisted 37 final women, divided into good OHI-S fair OHI-S. The P. measured using real-time qPCR from mucosal swab. Results found no differences OHI-s (p = 0.557). Conclusion Based on this study, although there significant difference based health status, is considered important be taken care pregnancy.
